Telecom Italia shareholders concerned about Havas ad deal

Telecom Italia's minority investors association Asati has sent a letter to the company’s control and risk committee and to Italian markets regulator Consob to express its concern about the reported decision to award TIM’s latest advertising contract to France’s Havas Media Group. Asati said the decision to award a EUR 100 million contract to Havas – controlled by the Bollore Group, which also owns Telecom Italia's largest shareholder Vivendi – could give rise to a potential conflict of interest. The association also noted that Havas CEO Yannick Bollore is the son of Vivendi chairman Vincent Bollore and questions whether the award is “the most favourable for TIM, in view of the different available options."

Vivendi last month increased its controlling stake in Telecom Italia to 24.19 percent compared to the 23.15 percent it held on 23 November.
